The Mindful Media Lab is based at the Institute for Culture and Media Management at the HfMT Hamburg.
Teaching at Mindful Media Lab
Teaching is a core pillar of the Mindful Media Lab. Our aim is to raise students’ awareness of topics such as mental health, resilience and leadership skills at an early stage. These topics are firmly embedded in the curriculum of the Institute for Culture and Media Management (KMM) and are further developed and explored through the Mindful Media Lab. To strengthen resilience in the long term, coping with stress should also be integrated into journalism training.
Teaching formats & courses for students
In our teaching, we combine academic perspectives with practical approaches. This enables students to acquire skills that will be valuable for their future careers.
Seminars & workshops
Regular events on topics such as mental literacy, resilience training and leadership in crisis situations help people to cope with stress more effectively.
Project seminars & participation
Students can get involved in research and knowledge transfer projects – from contributing to studies to helping to design practical initiatives.
Support services
In addition to our regular courses, we offer accessible support services, such as peer-to-peer exchanges, mentoring programmes and targeted advisory services for students.
Institutional embedding at the university
The Mindful Media Lab’s course offerings are closely linked to the Institute for Culture and Media Management (KMM) at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre (HfMT). The content is integrated into the Master’s programmes in the field of culture and media management and supplements the curriculum with the topics of mental health and resilience.
